Connecticut punk rocker Vicki F has released a new music video for her acoustic, post-punk version of Petula Clark's classic "Downtown." The video was captured "Let It Be-Style" on a rooftop in downtown Norwalk CT.

NORWALK, CT, April 12, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Fairfield CT-based singer-songwriter Vicki F, aka Vicki Ferrara, has released a new music video for her cover of the classic 60's song Downtown, as originally recorded by Petula Clark. The video, which is now streaming on YouTube, was filmed on a commercial rooftop in downtown Norwalk CT, close to Factory Underground Studio where Vicki F recorded the song.

The recording was produced by Ethan Isaac, co-owner of Factory Underground, and mixed by co-owner Kenny Cash. The video was produced by Factory Underground, directed by Marc Alan along with co-director and cinematographer John Shyloski, who also edited the film. Additional drone footage was provided by Jeffrey Willet. The recording was released on the Pilot Light Records label, a subsidiary of Factory Underground Records.

The song Downtown is a childhood favorite of Vicki F, from days long before she performed at CBGB and other legendary punk venues such as Max's Kansas City in New York City and Ron's Place in New Haven, CT in the early 1980s. It was in that time that her band Troupe DiCoupe blazed a trail through the early New Haven CT punk scene and began performing in New York City, sharing a stage alongside other emerging notables such as Blondie and the Talking Heads.

Troupe DiCoupe was an eclectic band with a unique mix of electric punk rock, featuring trombone, saxophone and congas, that put on an exciting show. They certainly caught the eyes and ears of CBGB owner Hilly Kristal who gave the band a Saturday night slot after a single weekday evening audition.

Troupe DiCoupe would go on to release a double album entitled So Young, So Desperate, which was rereleased on Spotify and other streaming platforms in 2019. By all accounts, these were wild days in Vicki's life - performing in Troupe DiCoupe under the pseudonym Trudi- ones that she would eventually need to leave behind.

"This was a period when I was in and out of a lot of relationships, and drinking a lot. I don't know if I would have survived if I kept going at that pace. It was then that I met my wife Michelle, who brought a lot of stability to my life, and it was then that I decided to sacrifice making music to have children. I made the right decision, because we are still together, with two grown sons that we could not be more proud of," said Ferrara.

During her period away from music, Ferrara found herself pursuing an entirely different passion - one for the law. This, combined with her passion for family, led to her becoming a prominent attorney in the state of Connecticut, representing couples seeking children through adoption and surrogacy.

Music, meanwhile, had become a part of her past - a memory that she tried unsuccessfully to distance herself from, with the occasional twinge of longing: "I would go to concerts and see myself on the stage, and I always wondered "What If...," she says.

It would be the passing of a close friend that prompted Vicki to finally return to music. As she was singing to her dear friend in her final moments, Vicki says that she felt her friend's spirit come into her, willing her back to music. It wasn't long before she dusted off her favorite acoustic guitar and began writing. She has not stopped since.

Finding her way to Factory Underground Studio in Norwalk CT, she began to work with studio co- owner/producer Ethan Isaac, who felt a personal connection to her music and her story. With Isaac's guidance she released her debut solo EP Definite Yes in 2019, and a second EP, Perfect Here in 2021. Vicki continues to write and record, releasing new works in 2022 and 2023, including Put the Critic in the Coffin an original song about eliminating self-doubt, and her latest recording, the cover of Downtown featured in her music video.

About the look and feel of the video: "For the cover art on Spotify, I had wanted to evoke the type of cover art that was popular in 1964, with a cool artist portrait and oversized, stylized lettering. We needed a portrait of Vicki for the cover, so I turned to Factory Underground photographer John Shyloski. We had a great time with Vicki, shooting in the streets of South Norwalk, CT,' said Marc Alan.

So when it came time to shoot the video, it was only natural for Alan to work with Shyloski as the cinematographer and video editor.

"I had worked with John on a couple of other videos before, so I knew what he was capable of. I had the idea of shooting this on a roof-top setting, something like the Beatles did in "Let it Be." I actually envisioned something very close to what you see in the actual music video, with the song being performed during twilight, during that magic time when the sunset is on the verge of becoming night. We had to shoot very quickly, as we began losing light," Alan said.

"Unfortunately, it was a rather gray overcast day, so John really had to pull out all the stops in getting it filmed in pretty low light conditions. In editing the video, he did wonders with color correction, adding interesting lens flares, and filtering the video to bring out the warmth and sunset I wanted," Alan explained.

"While I can say that the final video really captured the images I had in my head all along. But the truth is that without John Shyloski's technical skill, that vision would have remained in my brain. I think that that's why we make a great team," Alan said.

The Grab Brothers, a musical group based in Cape Cod, MA, has released its self-titled album on Pilot Light Records. The album was produced by Grammy Award winning guitarist Paul Nelson. The band has also released an EPK video on YouTube.

CAPE COD, MA, April 10, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Larry and Marc Grab are musical brothers who many believe to be twins, due to their unique, shaggy look, and their overall closeness as brothers and bandmates. Originally from Boston, MA, the duo were drawn to the close knit community of Cape Cod, MA, which they made their year round home. It was in Cape Cod that they formed The Grab Brothers, a rock band with a passionate and growing fan base.

"We found a thriving music scene in Cape Cod, and all through Barnstable County, MA, that really embraced us," said Larry Grab.

Finding their way to the Music Room, a popular Cape Cod music venue and recording studio, The Grab Brothers worked with Grammy Award winning guitarist and producer Paul Nelson to record its recently released self-titled album. Nelson, who is best known for his work with blues legend Johnny Winter, helped Mark and Larry choose their best songs for the album. By all accounts, this was no easy feat.

"Many people call us a writing machine, and I hope that never changes. My brother and I have over two hundred original songs," said Marc Grab.

'We never stop writing, no matter what we do or where we go. We can see the strangest things, and it becomes a song just like that," said Larry Grab.

The album, which was released by Pilot Light Records on March 24, 2023, consists of twelve original songs, including "Without You," the song which caught the attention of Pilot Light Records executives. Pilot Light signed a deal with the Grab Brothers in 2023, and has distributed their album to worldwide streaming platforms.

"Without You" is also featured in a "Behind the Scenes" EPK Video (Electronic Press Kit) streaming on the band's YouTube channel. The insightful video shows scenes of the Grab Brothers performing, working in the recording studio, and speaking about their background, history, and creative process. It was produced by Factory Underground Studio, a multi-media recording and production company in Norwalk, CT, the parent company to Pilot Light Records. The Grab Brothers video is available on YouTube at https://youtu.be/wob0xUGuNM0

"We originally saw Larry Grab's comical music video for his song "Where's the Relish," featuring sock puppets that resemble the two brothers. We loved that video, and we were not surprised to learn that it was one of their most requested songs," said Marc Alan, Director of Marketing for Pilot Light Records.

"Yet when we heard their new record, we were struck by it being a more serious rock record. It's a record with emotional depth, sonic diversity, and well-authored lyrics. The album shows that the musical brothers are not only well-crafted songwriters, but accomplished musicians as well," he said.

"We quickly realized this album was as far from a rehash of "Where's the Relish" as it could be, and these two serious musicians were not the 'human sock puppets' we half-expected them to be. This actually made us take a more serious look at the band," said Alan.

Next up for the Grab Brothers will be taking their show on the road, as well as completing several music videos, including one for "Without You."

"I can't wait to take these songs on the road, and perform them live for our fans. Performing our songs is the musical bond that my brother and I share as the Grab Brothers," said Marc Grab.

"Performing live and making new friends wherever we go is what the Grab Brothers are all about," said Larry Grab.

"Downtown", the new post punk-rock-n-roll cover song by Vicki F on Pilot Light Records, is now streaming around the world on platforms such as Spotify, Amazon, and Apple Music. "Downtown" was originally recorded by Petula Clark, who Vicki F cites as one of her earliest musical favorites and influences. The track was recorded at Norwalk, CT-based Factory Underground Studio, co-produced by Ethan Isaac and Tom Stewart. It was released by Pilot Light Records, a division of Factory Underground which began operations in 2023. Vicki F will shoot a promotional music video with Josh Shyloski and Marc Alan, who worked together previously on the "Late Night Train" music video by Tom The Suit Forst. Vicki F began her music career in the late 1970's performing with New Haven, CT-based punk rock band Troupe Dicoupe; the group performed regularly at Ron's Place, considered the most famous punk rock venue in New Haven at that time. Ron's Place regularly attracted acts such as the Ramones, the B-52s, and Blondie, along with notable local bands of the time, the Saucers, Sperm Donor, and the Poodles.

"Her arrangements are more stripped down than her early music....but there is no missing the original fire and punk rock spirit that gave her music breath from the very beginning.”

Building on their hard won success in New Haven, Troupe Dicoupe would inevitably find itself breaking into the NYC punk scene happening at venues such as Max's Kansas City and CBGB. The group had just become one of the first bands to move directly to a Saturday night slot at CBGB, when Vicki F decided to step away from the music business. "It was an especially tumultuous period," Vicki F said. "I don't know if I would have survived that time period [of the 70's-80's] if I hadn't gotten out of music when I did." Taking a break from the action, she poured her passion into a successful career as a lawyer, specializing in assisted reproduction and surrogacy. This might have been it for the accomplished musician turned lawyer, had it not been for the passing of a close friend who inspired her return to music. Since then she has not only reclaimed her creative fire, but ignited a growing secondary career as a solo music performer.

Her music today draws on diverse influences such as Patti Smith, Eddie Vedder, Joni Mitchell and Lou Reed. Her arrangements are more stripped down than her early music, a mix of folk-alternative and folk-punk, but there is no missing the original fire and punk rock spirit that gave her music breath from the very beginning.

Vicki F will support the release of "Downtown" with several shows planned throughout the northeast region into the Spring 2023. She will provide direct support for Wishbone Ash performing at Wall Street Theater on Friday, February 24, 2023, and for Tiffany also at the Wall Street Theater on Sunday, April 16, 2023.
